TENNIS RULES OF PLAY

Court Use 

All courts open for play at 7:00 a.m. Monday - Friday and 8:00 a.m. on Saturday & Sunday. Courts close at sunset during the summer months and 30 minutes before sunset once school begins (to allow time for the courts to be groomed before it gets too dark).

Important:  If you have a reserved court you will not be using, please cancel the reservation as a consideration to other members!

When walking behind the courts to get to your court, wait until a point is complete before crossing each court.

Wait outside the fence for your court to open (do not wait on the walkway behind the court). And try to have all players enter the courts at the same time to minimize disruption to those currently playing.

If a court is not being used within 15 minutes of the reserved time, it will be considered open for others to reserve and use.

The courts are closed from 3:30 - 4:00 p.m. daily for grooming (no exceptions!).

You can reserve up to 1 1/2 hours of court time (which is three boxes on the court sheets).

Shareholders have first priority for use of courts except when courts are scheduled for Club-spronsored programs.

Juniors playing against one another may reserve courts from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.  During any other times, they must yield to shareholder members if requested to do so. Also Juniors can not take lessons before 10:00am nor after 5:30pm Monday - Friday.

The Tennis Director or the Club Manager will determine when the courts are in condition for play and when the footwear or dress of a player is inappropriate.

The courts may be closed for maintenance at the discretion of the Tennis Director or the Club Manager.

A member must print his or her name on the court reservation sheet prior to playing and must register ALL tennis and pool guests with the shack workers.

Only the Tennis Director and the Tennis Pros he/she employs are permitted to give lessons at SPTC from the time the courts open in late April until they close mid-October.

Court Reservations

Tennis court reservations can be made:

1. by member shareholders only.

2. for a maximum playing time of 1 1/2 hours (3 boxes on the court sheets).

3. by telephone (651-224-3742) or in person from 8 a.m. (no earlier) to club closing Monday through Sunday.

4. may not be permitted if conflicts with Club-sponsored events.

5. up to two days prior to the day of play.

6. for more than one court time per day only if play for the first time is completed before signing up for the next. Only one court per member may be reserved during a particular 1 or 1 1/2 hour time (another court may be used at the same time only if no one else is playing on it).

7. must be made within the alloted highlighted "blocks" when applicable. 

Priority Use of the Courts

The Tennis Professional has priority use of court 4.

Unless a lesson/drill is canceled the day before, a member will be charged for that lesson/drill slot if it cannot be filled.

The following programs have priority use of the courts:
